Ubisoft Confirms Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, Shares 2026 Roadmap Update

Ubisoft has published a new roadmap update outlining what’s next for the Assassin’s Creed franchise as it approaches the one-year mark since the launch of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The biggest development is the official confirmation of the long-discussed Black Flag remake, now titled Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced.

The confirmation appears in a blog post titled “Assassin’s Creed: Into 2026,” accompanied by a short video message from Jean Guesdon, Ubisoft’s newly appointed head of Assassin’s Creed content. In the video, Guesdon reflects on his history with the series and outlines his intention to maintain clearer communication about the franchise’s direction. Most of the details, however, are included in the written blog post rather than the video itself.

Although Ubisoft shared official artwork for Black Flag Resynced, the company avoided directly naming the project in the body of the post. Instead, it included a brief message referencing the series’s well-known motto, hinting that some recent speculation carried weight. The artwork confirms that the remake is in development, putting an end to years of industry rumors and leaks surrounding a return to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

The original Black Flag remains one of the most recognized entries in the franchise, known for its naval combat system and pirate-era setting. While Ubisoft has not shared gameplay footage or a release window for Resynced, the official acknowledgment places it among the company’s upcoming projects targeting the next phase of the franchise.

Ubisoft also provided a short update on Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe. According to Guesdon, the title will remain quiet for a while longer as the development team focuses on delivering its intended vision. He described Hexe as a darker, narrative-driven Assassin’s Creed experience set during a pivotal historical moment.

No gameplay systems, setting details, or release targets were shared. Ubisoft’s message suggests the project is still in active development and not ready for a full reveal.

The franchise’s upcoming multiplayer title, Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus, also received a brief mention. Developed by the team behind For Honor at Ubisoft Montreal, Invictus is described as a PvP-focused experience that differs from past multiplayer modes in the series.

Ubisoft stated that the game is progressing using a test-and-learn approach. While specific mechanics were not discussed, the blog makes it clear that Invictus will introduce a new multiplayer direction rather than revisiting the competitive modes seen in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood.

The mobile entry, Assassin’s Creed Jade, was briefly acknowledged in the roadmap. Ubisoft did not provide new gameplay updates or a release window, only confirming that development remains ongoing.

The company also stated that several additional Assassin’s Creed projects are currently in production at various stages, though no further details were shared.

In more immediate news, Ubisoft confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Unity will receive a 60FPS update on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The patch is scheduled to begin rolling out tomorrow.

Unity will also be available as a free trial on Xbox from April 2 to April 6, giving players an opportunity to revisit the Paris-set installment with improved performance on current-generation hardware.

Ubisoft also referenced the live-action Assassin’s Creed adaptation in development at Netflix. While no production details or release window were disclosed, the company noted that additional information about the series will be shared soon.

With Black Flag Resynced now officially confirmed, Ubisoft has clarified one of the franchise’s most persistent rumors. However, the broader roadmap leaves many questions unanswered, particularly regarding launch dates and gameplay details for upcoming titles.

As Ubisoft moves toward 2026, further announcements are expected to provide more concrete information about the future of Assassin’s Creed across consoles, PC, mobile, and television.
