Tom Clancy’s The Division first launched on March 8, 2016, across PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, marking Ubisoft’s entry into the online open-world shooter RPG space. As the series approaches its 10-year anniversary in March 2026, new signs suggest that Ubisoft may be preparing an additional release tied to the original game. During the FPS Day esports event in Japan, attendees spotted a large poster referencing The Division: Definitive Edition, which quickly began circulating online.
Photos of the poster were shared on X (formerly Twitter) by multiple users attending the event. The timing is notable, as the poster appeared shortly before a scheduled 10th anniversary panel dedicated to the franchise. While Ubisoft has not officially announced a Definitive Edition of the first The Division game, the poster’s presentation and placement at a public industry event point toward a planned reveal rather than a fan-made concept.
At present, Ubisoft’s confirmed plans for the franchise focus on future titles rather than a revised version of the original game. During last week’s New Game Plus Showcase, executive producer Julian Gerighty shared updated gameplay and development details for The Division 2: Survivors and The Division Resurgence. Both projects were initially announced at Gamescom 2025 and are positioned to expand the series across different platforms and play styles.
Gerighty also briefly addressed the status of The Division 3, though without specific details. He stated that the Massive Entertainment team is deeply engaged in development and suggested that the project is intended to have a similar level of impact to the first game when it launched nearly a decade ago.
What remains unclear is what a Definitive Edition of The Division would include. Ubisoft has already introduced anniversary-related updates, including a 60 FPS update for current-generation consoles that rolled out earlier this year. In addition, Ubisoft Japan has confirmed plans for a special in-game event within The Division 2 to mark the franchise milestone, but this announcement did not reference a new edition of the original title.
If the Definitive Edition is intended as a current-generation release of the 2016 game, official confirmation may arrive during the anniversary panel at FPS Day. Ubisoft has been contacted for comment, but did not respond prior to publication. Further updates are expected as the anniversary date approaches.
