TerraMaster Unveils F2-425 2-Bay NAS With Intel x86 Quad-Core for Faster Home Data Storage

TerraMaster has officially introduced the F2-425, a new 2-bay network-attached storage (NAS) device designed for home users who need a centralized platform for data storage, backup, and multimedia streaming. This model replaces the earlier F2-210 and F2-212 units, bringing a major hardware upgrade by moving from ARM processors to an Intel x86 quad-core CPU. TerraMaster states that the new processor delivers up to 40% better performance than similar ARM-based NAS devices.

The F2-425 ships with 4 GB of memory, expandable if needed, and a 2.5GbE network port for faster data transfers. This hardware combination supports smooth 4K video encoding and decoding, enabling high-quality media streaming for multiple devices.

In terms of storage, the unit supports up to 60 TB capacity using two 30 TB drives. This amount of space can hold an estimated 15 million photos, 9 million documents, 20,000 HD movies, or 2 million lossless music files.

The F2-425 offers multiple storage configurations, including RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD, Single, and TerraMaster’s TRAID/TRAID+ technology, which balances capacity optimization with data redundancy. The device also includes 256-bit TLS encryption, OTP-based two-factor authentication, Security Isolation Mode, and TFSS snapshots to protect data from ransomware and other threats.

Built for home multimedia needs, the NAS supports uPnP/DLNA streaming, working with devices such as smartphones, tablets, Roku, Apple TV, and smart TVs. Users can stream directly through TerraMaster’s Multimedia Server or via third-party software like Plex and Emby. The platform supports over 50 user accounts, making it suitable for families who want private storage with shared access options.

The updated TNAS mobile app allows automatic photo backups, content categorization by faces, pets, objects, and scenes, and remote file management. On desktops, the TNAS PC client can mount the NAS as a local drive and provides TerraSync for real-time file synchronization, complete with up to 32 historical file versions.

The TerraMaster F2-425 is available now via the official TerraMaster website and authorized resellers worldwide. The unit comes with a two-year global warranty and lifetime technical support. The MSRP is set at US$249.99.
