TerraMaster has announced the launch of the D1 SSD Plus, a new USB4 SSD enclosure designed to meet the needs of video editors, gamers, and mobile professionals. Built for speed and reliability, the enclosure supports up to 40 Gbps transfer rates and offers full compatibility with macOS, Windows, Linux, and PlayStation 5. The D1 SSD Plus supports NVMe SSDs in the M.2 2280 format and delivers performance suitable for 4K/8K editing, macOS boot drives, and general high-throughput workflows.
The enclosure uses a USB4 interface, enabling fast data transfers when paired with high-performance SSDs like the Samsung 990 PRO or WD Black SN850X. TerraMaster reports read speeds up to 3853 MB/s and write speeds up to 3707 MB/s, capable of transferring multi-gigabyte files in seconds. This level of performance supports workflows that include high-resolution video rendering, application loading, and system-level tasks.

The D1 SSD Plus features a fanless thermal design made from aerospace-grade aluminium alloy. The enclosure includes dual-sided cooling fins and a full metal body that disperses heat efficiently, helping maintain consistent SSD performance. This design also ensures silent operation, which is useful in studio environments and quiet workspaces.

The body of the enclosure is built using CNC-machined aluminium alloy for strength and precision. According to TerraMaster, the enclosure offers up to three times the structural integrity of standard materials, while the frosted matte finish and seamless construction provide a clean appearance that matches modern desktops and laptops. It also includes anti-slip pads at the base to help prevent accidental movement or drops.
The D1 SSD Plus supports tool-free SSD installation, with the entire process taking just a couple of minutes. An integrated LED indicator improves usability in low-light environments, and the enclosure supports SSDs up to 8 TB. It also includes support for Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 5, and USB-C connections, ensuring wide device compatibility.

For data management and backup, the enclosure comes with TerraMaster’s TDAS Mobile app for Android and iOS. Windows users can use TPC Backupper for scheduled and differential backups, while macOS users can utilize native Time Machine support. The enclosure can also serve as a macOS boot drive, which is helpful for creative professionals using software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and other content creation tools.
The D1 SSD Plus is now available for purchase on TerraMaster’s official store and through authorized distributors. It includes a two-year global warranty and lifetime technical support. The MSRP is $109.99.
