TerraMaster Introduces TOS 7 NAS Operating System with Enhanced Interface and Features

TerraMaster has announced the release of its upcoming NAS operating system, TOS 7. The new version has been in development for two years and introduces a redesigned interface, improved performance, and a wider set of management and collaboration tools. TerraMaster has also opened registrations for the TOS 7 Insider Preview program, offering participants a chance to win the new USB4 NVMe SSD Enclosure D1 SSD Plus.

TOS 7 introduces a new color scheme and user interface built for easier navigation and efficiency. More than 90 percent of the icons have been redesigned, with over 50 new functions and more than 1,000 system optimizations. The operating system also enables users to customize their workflow through adjustable navigation and drag-and-drop icons, aiming to make daily operations faster and more organized.

The latest version adds “My Files” and “Desktop” features that replicate the convenience of traditional computer interfaces. Users can mount remote storage, manage data through tabbed or split views, and experience faster file operations. Additional support for ISO files and a unified recycle bin are included to simplify file handling and recovery.

TOS 7 expands its collaboration tools by introducing online document editing. Users can work together on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files directly within the NAS interface. This function removes the need for local downloads, improving team coordination and file management across devices.

The built-in search function now uses inverted indexing technology, allowing for ten times faster search results and a 120% boost in accuracy. The upgraded TNAS.online platform extends remote accessibility with a global multi-node network, making it easier for users to connect to their NAS devices from anywhere through mobile or desktop environments.

Storage management receives several updates, including visual overviews, disk migration and deletion functions, and adaptive array optimization. These additions allow for improved data organization and flexibility in managing storage volumes. Network control now includes a bandwidth-limiting option, enabling users to allocate speed by device or service. This ensures more balanced network usage, preventing any single task from overloading available bandwidth.

TOS 7 provides administrators with up to 13 configurable permission types, giving enterprises more control over data access and security. The App Center has been expanded with 10 new application categories, support for one-click Docker deployments, and a detailed logging system to help track performance and updates.

Developers can access full root privileges in TOS 7 and utilize Ubuntu compatibility for customized configurations. The new virtual machine support feature allows users to run isolated applications in secure environments, broadening the use cases for testing and development within the NAS ecosystem.

TerraMaster’s TOS 7 marks a significant upgrade across interface design, storage management, and system operations. Users interested in early access and participating in the TOS 7 Insider Preview program can register through TerraMaster’s official website, where more details about the giveaway and enrollment process are available.
