TerraMaster Introduces F4-425 Four-Bay NAS With Intel Processor and Enhanced Home Features

TerraMaster has released the F4-425, a new four-bay NAS that brings Intel processing power to its home-focused storage lineup. Designed as an upgrade over the previous F4-212, the F4-425 replaces Arm architecture with an Intel x86 platform, offering users more performance headroom for storage, multimedia, and backup applications.

The F4-425 is powered by an Intel Celeron N5095 quad-core processor and 4 GB of DDR memory, with expansion options available for heavier workloads. TerraMaster reports that the system delivers up to 40% improved performance compared with comparable Arm-based devices, enabling smoother multitasking and 4K video transcoding. Equipped with a 2.5GbE port, the unit supports transfer speeds up to 283 MB/s, more than double the rate of standard Gigabit connections.

The NAS runs on TerraMaster’s latest TOS 6 operating system, which integrates over 370 feature updates. The company notes improvements in responsiveness, application load times, and system stability, with performance gains of up to 60% in everyday use. The platform is designed to manage both data storage and entertainment services, offering a flexible environment for digital home users.

The F4-425 includes hardware-level 4K H.265 decoding, making it compatible with popular media server applications such as Plex, Emby, and Jellyfin. Users can stream content directly to televisions, tablets, and smartphones while maintaining high playback quality. With support for DLNA and UPnP protocols, the NAS can integrate with various smart home setups, extending entertainment options across multiple devices.

TerraMaster has added AI-powered photo management with its Smart Album feature, which automatically organizes photos by faces, pets, or events. This capability simplifies browsing through large collections and speeds up searches. Remote access is provided through the TNAS Mobile app, which also allows for one-touch setup, backup, and file sharing.

The device includes TerraSync and CloudSync for synchronizing data across Windows, macOS, mobile platforms, and cloud services such as Google Drive and OneDrive. Security protections feature a dedicated SPC security module, two-factor authentication, TLS encryption, and ransomware safeguards. The TFSS snapshot system supports up to 32 recovery versions, while the TRAID elastic array reduces unused disk space by around 30%.

With support for up to 120 TB across four bays, the F4-425 provides storage flexibility for media collections, work files, and backup archives. The USB 3.2 Gen2 interface allows for additional expansion, while the Push-Lock drive tray system makes drive installation simple without requiring tools. Operating noise is rated at 21 dB, keeping the device quiet in home environments.

The TerraMaster F4-425 is available now through the company’s website and authorized retail partners. It ships with a two-year warranty and lifetime technical support, targeting home users, professionals, and small office setups that require reliable storage, multimedia streaming, and backup capabilities.
