SAMSON Game Details Revealed: Gameplay Systems, Release Window, Price, Platforms Plans and More

Following its announcement, SAMSON has generated steady interest from players looking for clear information about what the game will offer at launch. The development team has now addressed many of the most common questions, outlining its plans for pricing, release timing, gameplay structure, and long-term support. Below is a detailed overview of everything currently confirmed.

SAMSON will launch with a price tag of $24.99. According to the developers, the pricing reflects the game’s independent development model. With a small, focused team handling both development and publishing, the studio has more flexibility in setting a price that aligns with the scope of the experience.

The game is targeting an early 2026 release window. While a specific launch date has not yet been announced, the team says more precise timing will be shared closer to release once development milestones are locked in.

At launch, SAMSON will be available on PC. Console versions are planned but will arrive later. The developers state that focusing on PC first allows them to concentrate on performance, stability, and polish without spreading resources across multiple platforms at the same time.

SAMSON is built as a single-player-only title. There are no multiplayer modes in development, and the team has confirmed there will be no microtransactions. Once purchased, players will have access to the full game without additional paid content tied to progression or features.

At launch, SAMSON will support EFIGS languages—English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. Localization will apply to text elements such as menus, user interface, and subtitles. Voice acting will remain unchanged, with no localized audio planned at this stage. Additional languages may be added after release as part of ongoing support.

The currently listed minimum PC requirements include:

  • Operating System: Windows 11 (64-bit)
  • Processor: 6-core CPU
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 20-series or AMD Radeon 60-series
  • Storage: 15 GB of free space

These specifications suggest the game is targeting modern PC hardware, particularly due to its open environments and physics-driven systems.

SAMSON is intended for a mature audience. The game includes depictions of drug use, sexual content, crime, and morally complex situations. The developers emphasize that these themes are part of the game’s world and narrative rather than being presented for shock value.

The studio behind SAMSON was founded in 2020 by Christofer Sundberg, known for founding Avalanche Studios and serving as creative lead on the original Just Cause games. Core development began in late 2021, when the team moved into its first studio space in Nacka, Sweden. The current version of SAMSON is built on systems and ideas developed over roughly five years.

All footage shown in the announcement trailer was captured in-engine. The team is currently working on developer diaries and gameplay-focused videos that will offer deeper insight into mechanics, systems, and design decisions. These updates are planned to roll out ahead of launch.

SAMSON is described as a mission-based game with a defined overarching story. While players can explore the city freely and approach objectives in different ways, the experience is intentionally structured. The world is designed for density and pacing rather than sheer size, with a focus on meaningful locations and activities.

The game sits between a fully open-world design and a tightly controlled narrative experience. Exploration is encouraged, but the world is built to support the story rather than function as an endless sandbox.

Completing the main story is expected to take around 10 hours. Players who engage with side activities, optional jobs, and exploration can expect total playtime to reach 25 hours or more.

Beyond the main narrative, players can take on various vehicle-based jobs, including races, targeted hits, and getaway-focused missions. Other activities include theft, tailing targets to gather information, and close-quarters combat encounters. These tasks contribute to player progression and provide additional context about the city and its inhabitants.

Driving plays a central role in SAMSON. Vehicles are designed with weight, handling differences, and impact in mind. Each vehicle behaves differently, encouraging players to adapt their driving style depending on the situation.

Players can drive any vehicle they encounter, though stealing one can attract attention from law enforcement or nearby NPCs. Civilians cannot be forcibly removed from vehicles, a limitation the developers say is a deliberate design choice.

Combat in SAMSON combines hand-to-hand fighting, melee weapons, vehicle-based encounters, and environmental interaction. Weapons are not selected from a traditional inventory. Instead, objects found in the environment—such as tools, debris, or even vehicles—can be used during fights.

Damage is visually represented, and environments can break or change during combat. Encounters are designed to emphasize positioning, timing, and awareness rather than predefined combat styles.

The game world reacts to player behavior. Civilians respond to reckless driving, violence, or suspicious actions. Law enforcement escalates its response based on what the player does, with chases becoming more intense if the situation continues to spiral.

Police encounters are built around tension and pressure, where mistakes carry consequences. Escaping often requires knowledge of the city layout and careful decision-making rather than brute force.

SAMSON does not include traditional difficulty settings. Instead, the challenge is shaped by player choices, mission approaches, and skill-based progression. The developers aim to balance the experience so that a wide range of players can engage with the systems without relying on adjustable difficulty sliders.

While comparisons to Mad Max and Just Cause are expected, the developers describe SAMSON as more grounded and character-focused. Influences are reflected in physical movement, vehicle handling, and system-driven interactions rather than large-scale spectacle.

SAMSON is currently available to wishlist on Steam, with more development updates planned through dev diaries and community channels as the game moves closer to release.
