Running With Scissors has announced Flesh & Wire, the first official spinoff set in the POSTAL universe, during the IGN Fan Fest showcase. The title is scheduled to launch in 2027 for PlayStation 5 and PC, with distribution confirmed through Steam and GOG. The project marks a shift back to the tone and setting of the original POSTAL, focusing on psychological horror and grounded violence rather than the satire seen in later entries.
Flesh & Wire introduces a new protagonist named Angel, a college student whose life takes a violent turn as she becomes entangled in a chain of conspiracies across Arizona. Alongside her sphinx cat, Solomon, Angel finds herself pursued by law enforcement, military forces, and a shadowy cult. The narrative ties directly to the events of the first POSTAL game, with Angel seeking answers connected to a personal tragedy linked to the series’ central figure, the Postal Dude.
The story will unfold across real-world environments and a distorted realm known as the Dreamscape. In this altered state, memories and present surroundings merge into unsettling landscapes shaped by trauma and fear. Running With Scissors describes the Dreamscape as a key gameplay and narrative element, blending psychological horror with action-focused encounters.
Combat and survival mechanics appear to play a central role. The studio has indicated that players will need to manage ammunition and health supplies carefully, suggesting a more tactical approach compared to previous POSTAL titles. Angel’s pursuit of the Postal Dude drives the core conflict, while her own past continues to surface throughout the journey.
In a statement, Vince Desi, founder of Running With Scissors, said the concept for Flesh & Wire has been discussed internally and with the community for years. He noted that while POSTAL evolved toward satire over time, the new project revisits the darker, psychological themes that defined the original 1997 release.
The POSTAL franchise has built a long-standing reputation over nearly three decades, gathering a dedicated audience across multiple platforms. With Flesh & Wire, Running With Scissors is expanding the universe while reconnecting with its early tone and setting.
Flesh & Wire is currently planned for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and GOG. Additional gameplay details and release information are expected to be shared at a later date.
