Riot Games Confirms Full Launch of Fighting Game 2XKO for PC and Consoles

Riot Games is preparing the full release of its fighting game 2XKO for PC and consoles, following an early access debut on PC in October 2025. The announcement came via a trailer on YouTube that was briefly public before being set to private, hinting at an early self-leak from the studio. Despite the trailer’s brief visibility, it confirms the game’s upcoming launch and key features.

The development of 2XKO traces back to 2016, when Riot acquired Radiant Entertainment, the studio behind Rising Thunder and Stonehearth. After the cancellation of Rising Thunder, Radiant’s founders, the Cannon brothers, began working on a new fighting game under Riot’s banner. Their history in competitive fighting games, including founding the Evolution Championship Series and developing the GGPO rollback netcode, heavily influenced the design and online systems in 2XKO.

The first official confirmation of the new project came in August 2019, but further details were limited until August 2022, when Riot revealed it would be free-to-play. The game’s title, 2XKO, was announced in February 2024, alongside its main gameplay mechanics. The game features 2v2 tag-team combat where players choose two champions from Riot’s League of Legends universe. One champion acts as the “Point,” while the other serves as the “Assist,” allowing players to tag in and out during fights. This system enables extended combos, offensive setups, and varied strategic options.

To make the game more accessible, 2XKO does not rely on traditional quarter-circle or dragon-punch inputs. Instead, each champion uses button combinations for attacks and abilities. The Fuse system adds another layer of customization, letting players enhance duo synergies with abilities such as back-to-back assists, dual ultimates, or increased damage under certain conditions. This system encourages experimentation with different champion pairings and playstyles.

With its full launch, 2XKO aims to expand Riot’s presence in the fighting game scene, offering both PC and console players a mix of competitive strategy and accessible gameplay. The release also marks Riot’s continued investment in games beyond their flagship MOBA titles.
