Sad Cat Studios and Thunderful Publishing have officially released the playable demo for REPLACED on Steam. The demo gives players their first hands-on experience with the upcoming 2.5D cyberpunk action platformer ahead of its full launch on March 12.
The full version of REPLACED is scheduled to arrive on Steam, Windows Store, and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, expanding access to console and PC players.
The demo introduces players to Phoenix-City, a dystopian setting in an alternate 1980s America shaped by nuclear catastrophe. The city operates under the control of a powerful Corporation, where corruption is common and criminal networks operate in the open. The environment reflects a society under strict corporate influence, with industrial areas, neon-lit streets, and decaying districts forming the backdrop of the experience.
Players assume the role of R.E.A.C.H., an artificial intelligence forced into a human body. As the story unfolds, R.E.A.C.H. seeks answers about its creation while navigating a city built on control and exploitation. The narrative focuses on identity, control, and survival in a world where human life holds little value.
REPLACED combines side-scrolling action with cinematic presentation. The demo showcases movement mechanics such as running, climbing, and traversing layered environments. Combat centers on close-range encounters, with hand-to-hand fights and grounded animations designed to reflect weight and impact.
