Remedy Entertainment has officially announced CONTROL Resonant, the next chapter in its CONTROL series, confirming a 2026 release across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC (Steam), and Mac. The new title builds on the studio’s paranatural universe while shifting the focus to a larger setting and a different central character.
CONTROL Resonant follows Dylan Faden, who spent years under confinement by the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC). As a growing supernatural crisis threatens to tear reality apart, Dylan is released and sent into action at a critical moment. A mysterious cosmic entity is altering the fundamental laws of the world, transforming Manhattan into a hostile and unstable environment.
Unlike the original CONTROL, which was largely contained within the Oldest House, the sequel moves outward into the city. Players will explore multiple areas of Manhattan as the invading force reshapes streets, buildings, and gravity itself. Familiar urban spaces become distorted, with shifting terrain and altered physics playing a central role in traversal and combat.
Remedy describes CONTROL Resonant as an action-adventure RPG with deeper progression systems. Dylan develops a range of supernatural abilities that evolve based on player choices. These powers can be shaped over time, allowing different approaches to combat and exploration. Environmental interaction remains a core mechanic, with players using surrounding objects and altered terrain to gain an advantage against enemies.

Combat also introduces Dylan’s melee weapon, the Aberrant, a shapeshifting tool designed for close-quarters encounters. Combined with elemental abilities and environmental manipulation, fights are designed to remain fluid as threats change and environments respond dynamically.
Narratively, CONTROL Resonant continues to explore the wider consequences of the FBC’s actions. As paranatural events spill beyond the Oldest House, Dylan searches for his sister, Jesse Faden, now Director of the FBC. The story examines Dylan’s struggle to maintain his humanity while confronting forces that challenge perception, memory, and identity.

The game will also feature locations beyond the physical city. Players will travel into metaphysical spaces shaped by Dylan’s mental state, offering insight into his past and the psychological toll of his imprisonment. These areas are expected to play a key role in both story progression and ability development.
Creative Director Mikael Kasurinen stated that CONTROL Resonant is designed to welcome new players while continuing the series’ themes. Prior knowledge of the first game is not required, though returning players will recognize connections to earlier events and characters.

CONTROL Resonant is being developed and published by Remedy Entertainment, with Annapurna Pictures co-financing and co-producing the project. The partnership continues Annapurna’s involvement in narrative-driven games, following previous collaborations with Remedy.
With a planned 2026 launch, CONTROL Resonant marks Remedy’s push toward a broader, city-scale experience while maintaining the series’ focus on supernatural storytelling and physics-driven gameplay. Further details on gameplay systems and release timing are expected in future updates.
