PXN Launches VD Series Direct Drive Bases and Steering Wheels for Sim Racing

PXN has announced the release of its new VD Series Direct Drive Bases and Steering Wheels, expanding the company’s sim racing hardware lineup with options designed for both newcomers and experienced drivers. The VD Series is structured as a tiered ecosystem, offering three different base models—VD4, VD6, and VD10—each with its own torque output and performance features. This approach allows users to select a product that matches their budget and racing requirements, while still gaining access to high-precision direct drive technology.

The entry-level VD4 delivers a constant torque of 4Nm with a peak of 5Nm, making it a suitable choice for beginners or casual racers. For those looking to step up in performance, the VD6 increases the torque to 6Nm constant and 7Nm peak. At the top of the series is the VD10, designed for competitive sim racing, with 10Nm constant torque and a peak of 12Nm. Each model uses PXN’s custom multi-pole servo direct drive motor, designed with low inertia for fast and accurate steering feedback. The cog-free performance helps provide smooth response and consistent control, which is particularly important during precision driving scenarios.

The VD Series also integrates a 24-bit magnetic encoder capable of capturing over 16 million resolution points. This ensures that even the smallest steering inputs are accurately registered, offering drivers a high level of precision and control. The design of the segmented stator core further reduces torque ripple, allowing for smoother resistance and reducing fatigue during extended driving sessions.

To support customization, PXN provides the SimRacing PC Control Center software. This platform gives drivers the ability to adjust force feedback, damping, and response curves to match their preferred racing style. Preset profiles are available for popular titles like iRacing and Assetto Corsa, offering quick setup for players who prefer straightforward adjustments, while advanced users can fine-tune settings to suit different vehicles and track conditions.

Additional features include PXN’s Sense+ algorithm, which enhances subtle effects such as ABS response and wheel slip, intelligent temperature control for consistent performance in long races, and a durable aluminum alloy chassis for stability. The VD Series also includes an aluminum quick-release system, allowing users to swap steering wheels quickly without compromising on reliability. All models in the lineup are compatible with PC and support a wide range of racing and driving games.

The PXN VD Series Direct Drive Bases and Steering Wheels will be available for pre-order starting today, with the official launch scheduled for August 8. More details, including pricing and purchasing options, are available on PXN’s official website.
