OneXPlayer has announced its upcoming compact handheld, the OneXFly Apex, which will integrate AMD’s Strix Halo APU. The confirmation follows the release of the company’s larger Super X gaming tablet earlier this year. Although no official release date has been provided, pricing is expected to start above $1,000, given the high-end components included in the device.
The OneXFly Apex will be offered with AMD’s Ryzen AI Max 385 or Max+395 processors. It will feature an 8-inch native landscape display, addressing compatibility issues that arose with early handheld models such as the Lenovo Legion Go. The display supports a 120 Hz refresh rate with variable refresh rate (VRR) for smoother performance. Controller placement will follow a familiar layout with asymmetrical joysticks, two-stage triggers, and ergonomics similar to the ASUS ROG Ally. Storage expansion will be available via a microSD slot, though details on the built-in storage have not yet been confirmed. Additionally, OneXPlayer has introduced the “ONE Dock silent liquid cooling system” as an accessory, but technical specifics about its operation have not been disclosed.

On the performance side, the Apex is expected to support a thermal design power (TDP) of up to 120 W. The handheld will house an 85 Wh battery, which may limit unplugged runtime under maximum load to under an hour. However, adjustable power profiles through OneXConsole software are expected to allow users to balance performance with efficiency. Estimates suggest the device could last up to six hours under lighter workloads. The GPD Win Max 5, which includes an 80 Wh detachable battery, is likely to be one of its closest rivals in the high-performance handheld segment.
With its upcoming release, the OneXFly Apex adds another option to the growing market of handheld gaming devices powered by advanced APUs, competing directly with offerings from GPD, ASUS, and Lenovo.
