CI Games has officially unveiled the first gameplay footage of Lords of the Fallen II during The Game Awards 2025, offering fans an early look at the next entry in its dark fantasy action-RPG series. The trailer marks the first time the sequel’s combat, enemies, and world design have been shown in motion. The game is set to launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via the Epic Games Store, where it is already available to wishlist.
Developed using Unreal Engine 5, Lords of the Fallen II builds on the foundations of the 2023 release while expanding its scope and systems. The game is set roughly 1,000 years after the fall of the dark god Adyr, at a time when humanity is once again facing the growing influence of the Umbral realm. Players step into the role of the Lampbearer, a figure tasked with standing against ancient gods, corrupted creatures, and the forces that spill over from the realm of the dead.
The newly released gameplay trailer focuses heavily on combat, which CI Games says has been reworked to feel faster and more fluid. One of the major additions is a new dismemberment system that allows players to sever enemy limbs during fights. This mechanic is paired with new execution moves designed to finish enemies once they are weakened. According to the developer, these changes are meant to add more control and variety to encounters without lowering the overall challenge.
Enemy variety is another area highlighted in the reveal. The trailer shows players facing a wide range of creatures, from standard foes to towering bosses. Three major bosses were featured in the gameplay footage. These include the Heartroot Warden, a heavily armored enemy wielding a massive greatsword wrapped in chains, Koydreth, a winged boss that attacks through rune-marked mirrors, and Lingao the Souring Storm, a colossal dragon that uses wind and lightning-based attacks. These encounters are designed to test both timing and positioning, key elements of the series’ combat style.
CI Games confirmed that Lords of the Fallen II will support solo play as well as shared progression co-op. Optional PvP multiplayer is also planned, continuing the online features introduced in the previous game. Game Director James Lowe stated that the sequel has been developed with a strong focus on community feedback, particularly around combat speed, enemy behavior, and boss design.

In addition to the sequel’s reveal, CI Games also announced the release of Version 2.5, the final major update for Lords of the Fallen (2023). This update includes extensive changes to enemy and boss behavior across both Legacy Mode and the newly introduced Veteran Mode. Bosses now feature refined attack patterns, faster transitions, and tighter pacing, while standard enemies have been adjusted to apply more pressure during combat.
Veteran Mode is aimed at experienced players seeking a higher level of difficulty. Completing this mode rewards players with exclusive gear, including the Veteran of the Veil breastplate, which offers a unique item drop bonus. Several boss weapons have also been updated with new signature attack animations.
CI Games said Version 2.5 represents the final step in its post-launch support, shaped by feedback from more than six million players since release. To mark the update, Lords of the Fallen (2023) is currently available at a 50% discount on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S for a limited time.
More details about Lords of the Fallen II are expected to be shared in 2026 as the game moves closer to release.
