Lenovo has officially confirmed the Legion Go 2, the company’s next handheld gaming device, which will feature AMD’s newly announced Ryzen Z2 and Ryzen Z2 Extreme processors. The system is positioned as the successor to the original Legion Go, which launched with Ryzen Z1 Extreme, and the entry-level Legion Go S powered by Ryzen Z2.
Design and Features

The Legion Go 2 refines the design of its predecessor with a more ergonomic form factor and detachable controllers. Similar to the first-generation model, the joysticks can be removed for different use cases, allowing the device to function as a traditional handheld, a docked console with controller support, or a PC-style setup using Lenovo’s FPS stick accessory.
Hardware Specifications
At the core of the Legion Go 2 are AMD’s new APUs. Configurations will include the Ryzen Z2 Extreme, built on Zen 5 architecture with RDNA 3.5 graphics (16 compute units), and the Ryzen Z2, based on Zen 4 architecture with RDNA 3 graphics (12 compute units). Both processors offer 8 cores and 16 threads, but the Z2 Extreme delivers higher efficiency and performance due to its updated architecture.

The handheld upgrades its display to a 1200p OLED panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, 500 nits peak brightness, HDR True Black 1000 certification, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Compared to the previous Legion Go’s 1600p IPS display, the new OLED panel provides deeper contrast and native landscape orientation.

System memory has been doubled to 32 GB of LPDDR5X-8000, while storage options include a 1 TB PCIe drive with support for up to 2 TB via microSD expansion.
Cooling and Battery

Lenovo has redesigned the cooling solution with a larger fan and dual exhaust vents at the bottom and rear, with fan speeds that can be manually adjusted. Power efficiency improvements are paired with a larger 74 Whr battery, up from 49.2 Whr in the original model. Charging is handled via a bundled 65W USB-C power adapter. A fingerprint reader has also been integrated for quick login and security.
Connectivity

The Legion Go 2 offers a range of connectivity options, including:
- Two USB 4.0 Type-C ports (DP 2.0 + PD 3.0 support)
- 3.5mm audio jack
- microSD card reader
Pricing and Availability
Lenovo has not yet disclosed the release date or official pricing. The first Legion Go launched at around $700–$800 USD, and the Legion Go 2 is expected to fall within a similar range. More information is anticipated in the coming weeks.
