KiiBOOM Phantom98 Lite has been introduced as a new mechanical keyboard option, targeting users who want a compact layout without giving up essential keys. The 98% layout keeps the numpad and navigation cluster intact while reducing the overall footprint, making it suitable for desks where space is limited but functionality still matters.
The design places a clear focus on visual identity, with three color options available at launch: Green Rainy Frog, Foggy Translucent, and Pink. Each version uses a combination of a UV-glazed case and PBT dye-sublimated keycaps, creating a layered texture that changes slightly depending on lighting conditions. A magnetic nameplate is also included, which stores the 2.4 GHz wireless receiver and keeps it from getting misplaced during daily use.
On the structural side, the keyboard uses a gasket-mounted design. This approach is commonly used to soften the typing feel and reduce harsh vibrations, resulting in a more controlled keystroke and a cleaner sound profile. The inclusion of a wider 2U “0” key on the numpad is a small adjustment, but one that can improve consistency during repetitive input tasks such as data entry.
Customization remains a key part of the package. The hot-swappable PCB allows users to change switches without soldering, making it easier to experiment with different typing preferences. VIA software support is also present, offering full key remapping and multi-layer configuration for those who need more control over their setup.
Connectivity is handled through three modes, including Bluetooth, 2.4 GHz wireless, and a wired USB connection. The keyboard also includes a quick toggle for switching between Windows and macOS layouts, along with additional Mac keycaps in the box.
