Keychron has revealed two new additions to its low-profile keyboard lineup, the K3 HE and K3 Ultra, both set to launch on February 12. These models extend the company’s recent HE and Ultra series by combining a slim, portable form factor with features aimed at gamers and productivity users. Both keyboards incorporate a metal and wood frame design and maintain the portability and build quality Keychron has become known for, while offering different switch technologies to suit varying user preferences.
The K3 HE uses Lime low-profile Hall effect magnetic switches, allowing users to adjust actuation points, reset behavior, and configure multi-action or analog inputs. This magnetic switch design provides flexibility for users who want more control over their typing and gaming experience. Keychron has also stated that the K3 HE will support third-party low-profile Hall effect switches, such as Gateron Magnetic Jade Pro and TTC KOM, which avoids limiting users to a single proprietary ecosystem. This makes it easier for enthusiasts to customize the keyboard according to personal preference.
The K3 Ultra, on the other hand, is designed for users who prioritize fast response times in competitive scenarios. It uses pre-lubed low-profile Milk POM mechanical switches and supports an 8,000 Hz polling rate, which translates to input latency as low as 0.125 milliseconds. This makes the keyboard suitable for gaming environments where every millisecond matters. Like the K3 HE, the K3 Ultra runs on ZMK firmware, and in 2.4 GHz wireless mode, it offers a battery life of up to 550 hours, supporting extended use without frequent charging.
Both keyboards emphasize portability and durability, featuring an ABS bottom case along with a metal and wood frame. They will be offered in black and white color options. While Keychron has not disclosed final pricing, early access reservations are available for a $3 fee. With the combination of advanced switch options, compact design, and extended battery life, the K3 HE and K3 Ultra aim to provide a versatile typing and gaming experience for both casual users and enthusiasts alike.
