Keychron Introduces M5 8K Wireless Mouse with PixArt 3950 Sensor and Ergonomic Focus

Keychron has officially introduced the M5 8K, a wireless mouse aimed at users seeking a balance between comfort and performance. With its ergonomic shape, high-end optical sensor, and flexible connectivity options, the M5 8K enters a competitive market while keeping things simple in design and functionality.

The Keychron M5 mouse features the PixArt 3950 optical sensor, which offers a wide DPI range from 100 to 30,000. This sensor is often found in higher-end mice and is designed for both productivity and gaming, giving the M5 8K an edge in tracking precision. A dedicated DPI adjustment button allows users to quickly change sensitivity settings, which can be especially useful for tasks that demand accuracy, such as photo editing or fast-paced gaming.

Design-wise, Keychron has opted for an understated approach. The M5 8K comes in black and white variants with no RGB lighting or decorative elements. The only illumination is a small LED charging indicator located on the left side. The company describes the mouse as “moderately heavy,” with a total weight of 95 grams. This places it in a middle ground between ultralight mice favored by competitive gamers and heavier models typically used in office settings.

One of the main highlights of the M5 8K is its ergonomic shape. Keychron says the design helps reduce discomfort during prolonged use. The symmetrical body is contoured to support a natural hand position, and while the mouse is not ambidextrous, its shape is intended to provide comfort for a variety of grip styles.

Connectivity is another area where the M5 8K offers flexibility. It supports three connection modes—2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and wired—controlled via a switch located on the underside of the device. The included 600mAh battery powers the mouse in wireless and Bluetooth modes, and the wired mode can be used for both charging and uninterrupted use.

Customization is handled through the Keychron Launcher software. Users can remap buttons, assign macros, fine-tune DPI settings, and adjust performance preferences. The software interface is designed to support advanced configurations without being overly complex.

The Keychron M5 8K wireless mouse is now available for purchase at a retail price of $69.
