iStorage Launches 26TB Hardware Encrypted Desktop Drives for Enterprise-Grade Security

iStorage has introduced what it claims to be the world’s first 26 terabyte (TB) PIN-authenticated, hardware-encrypted desktop hard drives. The new capacity is available in its well-established diskAshur DT3 and diskAshur DT2 product lines, both of which are widely used in sectors where data security is critical, including government, healthcare, finance, and media.

The diskAshur DT3, iStorage’s latest offering, is designed to meet the growing demand for high-capacity, secure storage. It supports hardware-based AES-XTS 256-bit encryption and features a Common Criteria EAL5+ certified secure microprocessor. It is also among the first encrypted desktop drives pending certification for the new FIPS 140-3 Level 3 standard, the updated cryptographic validation benchmark issued by the U.S. government. The product meets TAA compliance and is intended to offer advanced protection against data breaches or unauthorized access.

Both the DT2 and DT3 are designed with ease of use in mind. They feature a physical keypad for PIN-based authentication, eliminating the need for software and reducing exposure to potential vulnerabilities. The drives also automatically lock when disconnected from a system or after a configurable timeout, helping prevent unauthorized access when unattended.

The launch comes on the heels of iStorage’s acquisition of Kanguru Solutions and a new partnership with Elvirian, a group focused on developing secure technology solutions. The acquisition is part of iStorage’s broader strategy to strengthen its position in the secure storage market and expand its capabilities in encryption-based technologies.

According to John Michael, CEO of iStorage and Kanguru, the expansion to 26TB is not just about capacity but about addressing the real-world challenges organizations face in securing growing volumes of sensitive data. He noted that cyber threats are becoming increasingly complex and that solutions must evolve accordingly to offer meaningful protection.

With the combined expertise of iStorage and Kanguru, the company is positioning itself as a more comprehensive provider of encrypted storage and cybersecurity solutions. The iStorage 26TB DT3 and DT2 drives are now available for purchase through the iStorage and Kanguru websites, along with a network of authorized global resellers.
