GIGABYTE has introduced a new BIOS feature for its Z890 motherboards, aimed at boosting the performance of Intel’s upcoming Core Ultra Series 2 desktop processors, also known as Arrow Lake-S. The feature, called Ultra Turbo Mode, includes several performance profiles that adjust system parameters to get more out of the CPU and memory.
The Ultra Turbo Mode includes three BIOS profiles: LV2 Turbo Intel 200S Boost, LV2 Turbo Mode, and LV3 Extreme Mode. Each profile is designed to apply different levels of tuning. The LV2 Turbo Intel 200S Boost is based on Intel’s existing 200S Boost settings, improving interconnect and memory performance. The LV2 Turbo Mode goes further by applying additional tuning to CPU and DRAM settings. The LV3 Extreme Mode pushes the limits even more, though GIGABYTE hasn’t released specific details on how this mode works.

According to GIGABYTE, the Ultra Turbo Mode can deliver a noticeable increase in performance. The company reports up to 68% higher results in the AIDA64 memory benchmark and as much as 35% better frame rates in games like Hitman 3: Dartmoor. However, GIGABYTE has not provided benchmark screenshots or test conditions, so these numbers should be considered with caution. Performance results like these can vary depending on system configuration and workload.

GIGABYTE has used similar features in the past, including X3D Turbo Mode for AMD’s AM5 platform. That version was designed to take advantage of processors with 3D V-Cache and was updated with X3D Turbo Mode 2.0 earlier this year. The new Ultra Turbo Mode is GIGABYTE’s first BIOS-level tuning tool for Intel’s Z890 platform and is designed specifically for the new Arrow Lake-S processors.
The Ultra Turbo Mode feature will be made available through a BIOS update for all GIGABYTE Z890 motherboards. Users will be able to select the performance profiles directly from the BIOS menu after installing the update. This allows system builders and gamers to fine-tune their hardware without making changes to physical components or cooling setups.
