FILCO Introduces GRANPRO ITADAKI Joystick-Free Fighting Console with 1ms Input Latency

FILCO, a well-known Japanese manufacturer recognized for its durable mechanical keyboards, has launched a new product aimed at the fighting game community. The company introduced the GRANPRO ITADAKI, a joystick-free fighting console that focuses on fast response times, reliable control, and multi-platform compatibility. This marks FILCO’s first cross-border product, expanding its lineup beyond traditional keyboards and entering the competitive gaming accessory market.

The GRANPRO ITADAKI uses a full-button layout instead of the usual joystick design found on arcade-style controllers. It features 18 control buttons arranged on an A4-sized surface, offering players a compact and ergonomic interface for precise input during gameplay. This layout is designed for players who prefer button-based directional inputs, a growing trend among modern fighting game competitors.

At the heart of the device lies the Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller, which handles input processing with a latency as low as 1 millisecond. This ensures smooth and responsive performance during fast-paced matches. The inclusion of SOCD (Simultaneous Opposite Cardinal Direction) clear mode further supports competitive standards by managing simultaneous directional inputs effectively.

Around the device’s edges, FILCO has added RGB LED light strips with adjustable brightness settings. The lighting not only enhances the look of the controller but also provides visual cues during gameplay. The ITADAKI also features an event lock function that prevents accidental inputs during critical moments, along with a TURBO fast connection mode and multi-platform input switching, allowing users to use the controller with various systems without additional setup.

For the key switches, FILCO selected the Gateron Low-Profile Red 3.0 series, which delivers a smooth linear actuation ideal for quick button presses. The switches are hot-swappable, meaning users can easily replace or customize them without soldering. Each unit includes three spare switches and a key puller, providing flexibility for maintenance and long-term use.

The overall build follows FILCO’s signature approach of using durable materials and a clean, functional layout. While compact in size, the ITADAKI maintains a solid feel during use, reflecting the company’s long experience in producing reliable input devices for professionals and enthusiasts.

In Japan, the FILCO GRANPRO ITADAKI is priced at 19,800 yen (around USD 130), including tax. The launch represents FILCO’s effort to reach competitive gamers who seek precision hardware that aligns with tournament requirements. As the demand for button-only fighting consoles grows, FILCO’s new release positions itself as a viable option for players looking for a reliable and well-built input device from a trusted brand.
