Archetype Entertainment has released a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming sci-fi RPG EXODUS, offering a brief look at combat encounters, traversal systems, and environmental design. The studio, founded by former BioWare developers and backed by Wizards of the Coast, is gradually sharing more details as the project moves toward its planned early 2027 release window.
The latest trailer combines three short gameplay segments. The first focuses on a combat encounter set on the outskirts of Lyonesse, where protagonist Jun fights alongside companions Tom and Elise. The footage highlights a system where positioning and coordination with party members play a key role during encounters. The developers indicate that companion support can influence the outcome of battles, suggesting a system built around team-based decision-making rather than isolated action.
The second segment shifts to a quieter moment, showing the group navigating a space tower in the same region. This portion emphasizes how traversal works between combat sequences. Movement appears flexible, allowing players to move quickly through areas while still encouraging them to observe the scale of the environment. A grappling tool known as the Railclaw is briefly introduced, giving players the ability to reach higher ground and cross difficult terrain. The studio describes it as a core part of the Traveler toolkit, pointing to its importance in both exploration and level design.

The final part of the trailer moves to Khonsu, where the group enters an ancient structure with large, vertical architecture and a distinct Celestial style. While the clip is short, it hints at locations tied closely to the game’s broader narrative.
Alongside the trailer, Archetype shared a development roadmap outlining how information will be released over time. Additional short gameplay clips are expected in the coming months, covering systems such as combat, interactions, and environments. A longer gameplay showcase is planned for this summer, with extended footage expected to include dialogue, mission flow, and player choices. Closer to launch, the studio plans to provide focused updates on companions, romance systems, the Persepolis hub, and the Time Dilation mechanics.

Hasbro has positioned EXODUS as a major new property, with CEO Chris Cocks expressing confidence in its direction. Interest around the project has grown, especially among players who follow narrative-driven RPGs, while other upcoming titles such as The Expanse: Osiris Reborn reflect a wider return to the sci-fi RPG space.
