Berlin-based developer Elysium Game Studio has released a new trailer for its debut title, NEO BERLIN 2087, timed ahead of the annual Gamescom event. The footage offers another look at the game’s cyberpunk-inspired world, blending first- and third-person action RPG gameplay.
The narrative begins on a tense night in Berlin following the assassination of the city’s police chief. Players step into the role of Nolan, a detective with a troubled history, voiced by Elias Toufexis — best known for portraying Adam Jensen in the Deus Ex series. Nolan’s assignment is to locate and protect Natalie, the late police chief’s daughter, who may hold critical information about the murder.
As Nolan pursues the case, he finds himself drawn into a wider conspiracy that threatens both his life and the city. His eventual meeting with Natalie reveals an intertwined fate, where personal survival and the city’s future are at stake.
According to Elysium Game Studio, players will have the flexibility to shape Nolan’s abilities and loadout, with options spanning direct gunplay, stealth tactics, and role-playing progression. This freedom supports a variety of playstyles, allowing each player to approach objectives in their preferred way.
NEO BERLIN 2087’s setting draws inspiration from cyberpunk classics such as Blade Runner and Ghost in the Shell, but places its narrative within a reimagined Berlin of 2087. The city is enclosed by massive walls, protecting it from a devastated wasteland beyond. This outer area is populated by outcasts and malfunctioning machines, presenting players with hazardous exploration opportunities.
Players will traverse both the neon-lit streets of Berlin and the hostile environments outside its walls. Combat encounters promise fast-paced action, while stealth mechanics allow for quieter, more strategic gameplay.
Built on Unreal Engine, NEO BERLIN 2087 aims to deliver detailed environments and dynamic lighting suited to its cyberpunk theme. A release date has not yet been announced, but the game is confirmed for PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X Wishlist pages are already available across all platforms.
