AYANEO 3 Gaming Handheld Officially Launched with High-Performance Variants and Modular Design

January 24, 2025

After months of anticipation, the AYANEO 3 gaming handheld has officially been launched, offering advanced configurations and features that target enthusiasts in the portable gaming market. The device comes in two APU options: the Ryzen 7 8840U for the base model and the Ryzen 9 HX 370 for the high-end variant, catering to a broad spectrum of performance needs.

The AYANEO 3 supports up to 64GB of LPDDR5X-7500 RAM and offers SSD storage configurations of up to 4TB, making it one of the most flexible handheld gaming systems available. The handheld also features modular controllers, which can be detached with the press of a single button, allowing for enhanced usability and customization.

Display options include both LCD and OLED panels, giving users flexibility based on their preferences. Interestingly, choosing the OLED panel does not affect the final price, ensuring that display technology does not become a limiting factor for buyers. The inclusion of both Zen 4 and Zen 5 APUs provides a clear performance hierarchy, with the Ryzen 9 HX 370-based model offering significant advantages in both CPU and GPU performance.

The Zen 5-based Ryzen 9 HX 370, featuring the Radeon 890M integrated GPU, outpaces the Zen 4 Ryzen 7 8840U’s Radeon 780M GPU by approximately 25%. In multi-core benchmarks, the high-end variant shows a 50% performance increase compared to its base model counterpart. These figures underline the substantial gap in computational capabilities between the two configurations, ensuring that users seeking top-tier performance have a viable option.

The AYANEO 3 positions itself firmly in the premium category, with the entry-level model priced at $899. This configuration includes the Ryzen 7 8840U, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. Early bird and Indiegogo customers can benefit from $100 and $200 discounts, respectively. The higher-end model, featuring the Ryzen 9 HX 370, 32GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage, is priced at $1,499 with the same discount structure.

The device is available in three color variants: Starry Black, Sky White, and Retro Power. Each color option provides a distinct aesthetic appeal, catering to diverse consumer preferences.

With its high-performance hardware, modular controller design, and flexible display options, the AYANEO 3 establishes itself as a strong contender in the handheld gaming market. While its pricing positions it as a premium product, the extensive features and powerful configurations make it a compelling choice for gamers looking for a portable yet capable system.
