ASUS ROG Xbox Ally Pre-Orders Expected to Begin at Gamescom 2025

New reports suggest that the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally handheld gaming consoles will be available for pre-order starting August 20, coinciding with the first day of Gamescom 2025. The information comes through Dealabs and hardware leaker @billbil_kun, with Microsoft’s Xbox Wire also confirming a Gamescom showcase scheduled for August 20 at 3 PM CEST.

The ROG Xbox Ally will arrive in two models: the Xbox Ally X and the standard Xbox Ally. Both systems are built in partnership between ASUS and Microsoft, designed to expand handheld gaming options under the ROG and Xbox brands.

The higher-end Xbox Ally X is powered by an eight-core AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor, paired with 24 GB of LPDDR5x-8000 RAM and a 1 TB SSD. The standard Xbox Ally will use the quad-core AMD Ryzen Z2 A, supported by 16 GB of LPDDR5x-6400 RAM and a 512 GB SSD. These differences give Ally X an edge in performance and storage capacity.

In terms of design and connectivity, both devices are largely similar, though the Ally X includes a larger 80 Wh battery and a USB4 port. These additions set it apart from the base model, which comes with a smaller battery and lacks USB4 support.

Pricing details point to a launch cost of around €899 for the Xbox Ally X and €599 for the regular Xbox Ally in Europe. While U.S. pricing has not been confirmed, previous product launches, such as the All-Digital Xbox Series X, suggest a direct 1:1 price conversion between EU and U.S. markets.

With Gamescom 2025 just weeks away, more details about availability, specifications, and launch plans for the ASUS ROG Xbox Ally are expected during Microsoft’s scheduled presentation.
