ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has officially opened pre-orders for its new handheld gaming devices, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, in selected markets starting September 26, 2025, at 2:00 a.m. CEST. Additional regions are scheduled to follow in the weeks ahead.
The devices were developed in partnership with Xbox, combining the hardware engineering of ASUS ROG with the gaming ecosystem of Xbox and Windows. Both handhelds run on Windows 11, providing access to titles from major PC storefronts and Xbox Game Pass, while featuring ergonomic design and a full-screen layout.
The ROG Xbox Ally uses the AMD Ryzen Z2 A Processor, designed to deliver energy efficiency with performance improvements over the previous ROG Ally generation. The ROG Xbox Ally X, equipped with the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme Processor, focuses on higher processing power, balancing performance and battery life.

Pre-release testing showed the Xbox Ally X achieving up to a 30% performance increase in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle and Doom: The Dark Ages. Battery testing indicated up to double the runtime in Hollow Knight: Silksong compared to the earlier model.
The standard Xbox Ally also records a 20% uplift in Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War: Reloaded, while offering up to 110% more battery endurance over its predecessor.
Both models support the latest AMD technologies, including FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR), Radeon Super Resolution (RSR), and Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF), enhancing frame rates and visual output in supported titles.

The Xbox Ally X integrates an onboard Neural Processing Unit (NPU), preparing the hardware for upcoming software features as AI-based tools in gaming continue to evolve. While current use cases remain limited, the addition is designed to ensure long-term compatibility with future developments.
