AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE Launch Reportedly Pushed to Q4 2025, New PowerColor Models Leak Early

Reports from industry sources suggest that AMD has decided to delay the release of its Radeon RX 9070 GRE graphics card series to the fourth quarter of 2025. This update contradicts earlier expectations of a surprise launch in May, which had been floating around in online leaks. The GRE lineup is anticipated to complement AMD’s upcoming Radeon RX 9060 XT models, which are rumored to launch in both 16 GB and 8 GB memory configurations. These mid-range and budget-oriented options are part of AMD’s broader RDNA 4-based GPU rollout.

VideoCardz, a website known for obtaining early product information, has reportedly acquired promotional material showing two PowerColor-branded RX 9070 GRE 12 GB custom graphics cards. While AMD has not confirmed these products, the images are believed to originate from a source close to PowerColor or one of its associated partners. The designs shown reflect familiar aesthetics seen in previous RDNA 4 cards, suggesting a strong likelihood that the manufacturer is reusing shroud and backplate elements from other models in the series.

The leaked cards include PowerColor’s Red Devil variants, which are often positioned toward the higher end of custom GPU offerings. Interestingly, there was no mention or image of a Hellhound version—typically PowerColor’s mid-tier line—raising questions about its place in the GRE lineup. According to the images, the RX 9070 GRE Red Devil cards appear to feature a dual 8-pin power connector setup, compared to the triple 8-pin configuration used on more powerful versions like the RX 9070 XT. The minimum power supply recommendation is listed as 650 watts, aligning with expectations for a performance-focused, but not extreme, GPU.

Although AMD has remained silent about the GRE branding, previous whispers in industry circles suggested that board partners had begun preparing for mass production as early as March. The appearance of the two PowerColor designs adds weight to those earlier claims, even if the timing of the launch has shifted.

VideoCardz speculates that AMD may be intentionally releasing conflicting details through its network of insider sources, possibly as a strategy to manage expectations or obscure its true launch plans. While this approach isn’t unheard of in the tech industry, it adds a layer of complexity to tracking product developments.

With a new potential launch window set for late 2025, AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 GRE series appears to be part of a more drawn-out release strategy. More information will likely emerge as the company and its partners move closer to finalized production and distribution plans.
