Bend Studio, the developer behind the 2019 action-adventure game Days Gone, is reportedly working on a new third-person cooperative game, but it will not be the sequel many fans have been waiting for. According to a report from MP1st, citing anonymous sources familiar with the studio’s development, the upcoming project is already deep into production. The report also suggests that the game could be revealed sometime in 2027, followed by a potential launch in late 2027.
Details about the new project remain limited, but the reported third-person co-op format suggests that Bend Studio is moving away from the single-player open-world experience of Days Gone. The original game followed Deacon St. John through a post-apocalyptic setting filled with hostile survivors and large Freaker hordes. Despite its initial reception, the game developed a dedicated fanbase, leading to continued requests for a sequel.

Another interesting detail from the report is that Bend Studio’s upcoming game is not expected to be a live-service title. This comes as Sony continues to explore multiplayer and live-service projects across its PlayStation Studios lineup. As MP1st’s report suggests, the project will feature cooperative gameplay without following the traditional live-service model. However, there is no information about its multiplayer structure, campaign length, or whether players will have the option to play alone.
“According to sources familiar with Bend Studio’s development, the upcoming project is a third-person co-op game and not Days Gone 2.”
Sony has yet to officially announce the project, so its platforms and release plans remain unconfirmed. A PlayStation 5 release is possible given Bend Studio’s history with Sony, but there is currently no confirmation of console exclusivity. If the reported development timeline holds, players could get their first look at the game in 2027.
