Arkade is taking a different approach to PC gaming peripherals with its new Arkade Gaming Gun, a gun-shaped wireless controller designed to change how players aim and interact with first-person shooter (FPS) games. While gaming mice continue to receive improvements in sensor accuracy, DPI sensitivity, polling rates, and response times, Arkade believes that pointing a physical gun-shaped controller could offer a more natural way to play shooters.
The company claims its device delivers performance metrics comparable to high-end gaming mice based on its internal testing. The Arkade Gaming Gun is scheduled to enter production and begin shipping in 2027. Pre-orders are currently available for $299, while the expected retail price will increase to $399.

The Arkade Gaming Gun connects to PCs through a 2.4GHz wireless connection and offers more than eight hours of battery life on a single charge. It also features magnetic charging for recharging when the battery runs low. Arkade says it has tested the controller with more than 200 FPS games and supports Windows, macOS, and SteamOS. Its standard HID driver eliminates the need for a dedicated driver installation, while a web-based configuration and calibration tool allows players to adjust settings. The company also lists popular shooters such as Call of Duty, Valorant, Counter-Strike 2, Apex Legends, and Overwatch 2 among its supported titles.
Arkade explains its game compatibility by stating, “The Arkade works with over 200 tested FPS games including Call of Duty, Valorant, CS2, Apex Legends, Overwatch 2, and many more. If it’s a first-person shooter, chances are we support it.”
Rather than using traditional light-gun technology or external tracking stations commonly associated with VR controllers, Arkade uses a proprietary positioning system to translate real-world movements into in-game aiming. Players must calibrate the device according to their seating position and display size before starting a game.

The controller includes two customizable buttons, one on the right side of the barrel and another at the rear, alongside a programmable joystick on the left side. These controls are intended to handle additional gameplay actions, including movement, jumping, reloading, throwing grenades, and interacting with objects.
The company describes its tracking technology as follows: “We developed a tracking system that aligns real-world movements with your in-game view using a patented technique. This solves the First Person Problem. Point and the game responds, exactly as expected. Simple and more intuitive than a game controller, joystick, or even a mouse.”
The hardware also includes a 1,000-LED array integrated into the barrel, allowing users to customize its appearance with lighting effects and community-created skins. A touchscreen on the rear provides access to button customization and recalibration, which could be useful when players change their seating position during a gaming session.

However, Arkade has yet to share detailed technical specifications covering tracking accuracy, input latency, or sensor performance. These details will be important in determining how the device compares with high-end gaming mice in competitive shooters. For now, the Arkade Gaming Gun is available for pre-order at $299, with shipments planned for 2027.
