Ubisoft Confirms No New Assassin’s Creed Remakes in Development, Updates Hexe and Invictus

Ubisoft has confirmed that it currently has no other Assassin’s Creed remakes in active development following the launch of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. In its Fall 2026 franchise update, the company discussed the development challenges involved in rebuilding the older game and outlined its plans for the franchise. While fans have been expecting another remake, particularly a possible return to the original Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft says its development teams are currently focused on upcoming titles with new settings and stories.

According to Ubisoft, rebuilding the original systems for Black Flag Resynced from scratch was a massive undertaking. The remake launched on July 9 and has reportedly performed well, but the company has not announced another project of the same kind. This also leaves recent rumors about an Assassin’s Creed 1 remake without official confirmation. Ubisoft has not ruled out revisiting older games entirely, though, explaining that it will continue exploring opportunities to bring previous entries back to players.

The company also provided an update on Assassin’s Creed Codename Hexe, describing development as making “steady progress.” However, players will have to wait until 2027 for the next major update. Ubisoft did not reveal a release window, although previous reports suggested that the game might not launch before the second half of 2027. Interestingly, the latest update includes scrambled, coded text in the Hexe section, giving fans another detail to investigate while waiting for further information.

Meanwhile, Assassin’s Creed Codename Invictus, Ubisoft’s upcoming multiplayer project, is undergoing changes following feedback from hundreds of players who participated in a private Insiders Session. Players welcomed the return of PvP gameplay, parkour, and the ability to use different characters from the franchise. However, Ubisoft said the feedback also highlighted the need to include more of the series’ core gameplay elements. The development team is now reworking the project based on those responses.

Ubisoft also confirmed that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will receive New Game+ on November 5, alongside an optional progression mode, new runes, a stash system, and Mithril, a new upgrade resource. The update will also introduce a Master Assassin outfit inspired by Naoe from Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Ubisoft says player feedback could help determine whether similar updates arrive in other Assassin’s Creed games.

On the television side, production of Netflix’s live-action Assassin’s Creed series is nearing completion in Rome, with composer Hannah Peel working on its soundtrack. A release date has not yet been announced. The franchise will also celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2027, with Ubisoft planning a year of announcements, updates, and rewards. While another remake is not currently on the development schedule, the anniversary could bring more information about the company’s plans for the series.
