XREAL has officially launched its AURA XR glasses, bringing Google’s Android XR platform to a wired wearable designed for gaming, entertainment, and productivity. Announced at Google’s Android Developer Summit on October 28, the new glasses combine transparent displays with spatial computing features and Gemini AI assistance. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite platform handles the main processing tasks through a separate compute puck, allowing XREAL to keep the glasses below 95 grams.
Google describes AURA as a way to bring apps, entertainment, and AI assistance into a user’s field of view without completely blocking the physical world. The glasses provide a 70-degree field of view and use Sony Micro-OLED display technology with 1200p resolution and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Users can place multiple virtual application windows around them, creating a workspace that can include a browser, documents, and other Android XR apps.

The compute puck contains the battery and main processing hardware and connects to the glasses through a cable. It also provides touchpad controls, while users can pair Bluetooth keyboards, mice, and game controllers. Android XR supports Google Play applications, including more than 150 experiences designed specifically for XR, while Gemini can understand context from the user’s surroundings and visible screen content.
XREAL AURA also supports wired screen mirroring through USB-C. Compatible laptops and handheld gaming devices can display their output inside the user’s virtual workspace, allowing games and desktop applications to run alongside Android XR apps. For entertainment, users can access YouTube, Google TV, and other streaming services. Electrochromic dimming lets users adjust lens transparency, while Bose-tuned audio handles sound.

Google’s Android XR team says the device is designed for everyday use across work, entertainment, and gaming. In its launch announcement, Google called AURA a way to bring “your apps, your shows, and help from Gemini wherever you go.” The platform also supports immersive XR content, including new experiences such as Fallout Factions and Project Hail Mary: Journey Among the Stars.
XREAL AURA is available to order in the United States, Canada, and South Korea, with orders opening in Japan on November 2. The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model has a regular price of $1,279, reduced to $1,099 during the launch promotion. The 16GB RAM and 512GB version costs $1,499 normally, with a promotional price of $1,299 through December 2026. Shipments are expected to begin in mid-November, giving buyers a new Android XR option that combines a portable display with a dedicated computing device rather than a conventional standalone VR headset.
