8BitDo has announced the Ultimate 3C+ Wireless Controller, a more affordable option for gamers who want features usually found on higher-priced gamepads. The controller is available for pre-order at $39.99 on Amazon, with regular sales scheduled to begin on October 30. It follows the Xbox-style layout used across much of 8BitDo’s Ultimate lineup, with offset analog sticks and ABXY face buttons.
The Ultimate 3C+ supports Windows and Android devices through 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.4 LE, and a wired USB-C connection. Its 2.4GHz mode supports a 1,000Hz polling rate, giving PC players a faster input reporting rate when playing compatible games.
8BitDo has equipped the controller with TMR joysticks that offer adjustable tension, along with Hall effect triggers that support linear and non-linear control modes. Separate trigger vibration motors work with the controller’s main rumble system, while lockable rear paddles and additional L4 and R4 shoulder buttons provide more options for mapping in-game actions. The controller also has a magnetic storage area for its 2.4GHz wireless receiver.
The 500mAh battery is rated for up to 20 hours of use over 2.4GHz wireless and up to 32 hours over Bluetooth, according to 8BitDo. Battery life will depend on usage and settings.
Buyers can choose from Stealth Black, Avocado Green, and Frost White. However, the lower price means a few features from the more expensive Ultimate 3 Wireless are missing. The Ultimate 3C+ does not include interchangeable face buttons or a D-pad, alternative thumbstick toppers, a 3.5mm audio jack, or a charging dock that doubles as a wireless receiver.
At $39.99, the Ultimate 3C+ combines TMR sticks, Hall effect triggers, additional controls, and three connection options in a more accessible package. Its October 30 retail launch will give PC and Android gamers another controller to consider without moving into the higher price bracket of premium gamepads.
