Ghost of Yotei Runs on PC Through PS5 Emulator, but Performance Drops to 1–2 FPS

Ghost of Yotei has reached in-game footage on PC through SharpEmu, an experimental PlayStation 5 emulator, but the game remains far from playable. Footage shared by developer Foued (@foufouadi_) on X shows Sucker Punch Productions’ samurai action game loading a 3D environment and allowing protagonist Atsu to move around. However, the video was sped up, and the actual frame rate reportedly sits at just 1–2 frames per second (FPS).

The latest progress shows that SharpEmu can move beyond the game’s menus and reach an interactive scene. However, geometry errors, missing or incorrectly rendered textures, and other visual problems remain. These issues suggest that the emulator still needs considerable work before players can expect a playable experience.

A separate screenshot shows a fight against The Snake, the game’s first boss, running at 10.9 FPS on a system equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics card and an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D processor. Some visual effects continue to render incorrectly, showing that compatibility remains a challenge even on high-end PC hardware.

Ghost of Yotei Runs PS5 Emulator

Another project, AnyPS5, is also attempting to bring PlayStation 5 games to PC. Rather than relying on traditional emulation, it aims to relink PS5 executables to a PC environment. Its attempt to load Ghost of Yotei remains much further behind, with the game world reportedly loading at around 3.4 frames per minute.

The progress follows recent developments with other PS5 games. Marvel’s Wolverine booted through the KytyPS5 emulator before reaching around 20 FPS, while the same emulator has demonstrated the PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V running at up to 60 FPS under certain conditions.

For now, Ghost of Yotei is not ready for normal PC gameplay. SharpEmu’s progress demonstrates that the game can reach in-game scenes, but its low frame rate and graphical errors remain significant obstacles. There is no confirmed timeline for when the game might become playable from beginning to end through emulation.
