Brook Gaming is targeting PS5 players who prefer the Xbox-style asymmetrical analog stick layout with its new StarRay Wireless Controller, a $74.99 gamepad that combines native PlayStation 5 support with Hall Effect sticks, mechanical buttons, adjustable triggers, and extensive software customization. The controller is available now through the Brook Amazon Store and Brook’s official online shop.
The StarRay is designed around a familiar Xbox-style control arrangement while retaining native PS5 functionality. Players can connect it to PS5, PC through Steam, iOS, and Android using Bluetooth or a USB-C wired connection. On PS5, the HOME button can also be used to power on the console, making the controller suitable for everyday console use rather than being limited to third-party compatibility.

Brook has equipped the StarRay with Hall Effect analog sticks, which use magnetic sensing technology instead of traditional contact-based components. This design provides precise stick input while reducing the risk of stick drift over time. Mechanical buttons are also included, with Brook claiming up to 30% faster input response.

For PC gamers, the controller supports a polling rate of up to 1000 Hz over a wired USB-C connection. The triggers can also be switched between two modes. The 15 mm long-stroke setting provides more travel for games such as racing titles, while the 0.3 mm quick-trigger mode is intended for faster inputs in FPS and action games.
“StarRay is designed to give players the freedom to choose the control style, trigger response, and button configuration that best fits their games.”

Customization is handled through the StarRay App, which allows users to configure Turbo and Macro functions, remap buttons, adjust joystick sensitivity and dead zones, and update the controller’s firmware. The hardware adds two top auxiliary buttons and two rear buttons, along with dual vibration motors, RGB lighting, and anti-slip grips.
