Razer is pushing its latest gaming controller deeper into competitive territory with the new Wolverine V4 lineup, led by the wireless Wolverine V4 Pro and V4 Tournament Edition Controllers for Xbox and PC. The controller combines contactless capacitive thumbstick sensors, an 8,000Hz polling rate on PC, sub-1ms response times, and a modular button layout designed for players who want more control over their setup.

The Wolverine V4 Pro uses two new capacitive thumbstick sensors alongside a 16-bit ADC chip. Razer says the combination can register around 3,000 steps of movement, allowing for smoother tracking and more precise analog input. The company also claims the sensors offer better resistance to magnetic interference than TMR and Hall Effect alternatives while maintaining drift-resistant operation.

Input speed is another major focus. On PC, the Wolverine V4 Pro can reach up to 8,000Hz HyperPolling, while Xbox Series X|S connectivity supports up to 250Hz. Razer claims the controller can deliver response times below 1ms, giving competitive players faster feedback from button presses, triggers, and thumbstick movements.
“This controller is damn near perfect – It’s everything I loved about the Wolverine V3 taken to the next level. The new back button design is incredibly convenient for creating my perfect layout, the buttons feel as fast and responsive as ever before, and the improved polling rate is exactly what I need to stay ahead of the competition.”

The Wolverine V4 Pro also changes how players can configure the controller. Its four back buttons and two claw-grip bumpers use a magnetic design, allowing them to be swapped or removed without tools. This gives players six mappable action buttons that can be assigned to frequently used commands in FPS and other competitive games.
Razer Pro HyperTriggers add another layer of adjustment. Players can switch between short trigger actuation for fast FPS inputs and a full analog pull for racing games. Razer Synapse allows the actuation point to be adjusted between 1.3mm and 8.2mm.

The controller includes reinforced PBT mecha-tactile face buttons, an 8-way floating D-pad, textured TPU grips, and four onboard Synapse profiles. Players can also adjust dead zones from 0% to 15% and customize button mappings for different games.
Razer is also giving users more control over the physical design. The Wolverine V4 Pro has a removable magnetic faceplate and six interchangeable thumbstick caps, including short concave, short convex, and tall concave options. This lets players change the controller’s handling depending on whether they prefer quick movement or more precise aiming.
“At Razer, we build for the pros, which means listening to what competitive players actually need to win. The Wolverine V4 line is the result: high-resolution precision, ultra-fast response, and the customization to make it their own, engineered to meet the demands of the world’s best.”

The Wolverine V4 family is aimed at players who want a controller that can be adjusted around different game genres rather than using the same configuration everywhere. With high-frequency polling, contactless thumbstick technology, adjustable triggers, interchangeable controls, and onboard profiles, the Wolverine V4 Pro is designed around competitive FPS, racing, and other games where input precision matters.
