Turtle Beach is taking its Vulcan II XP wireless gaming keyboard and adding the new Vulcan II XP Air, with a large 6,000mAh battery, air gesture controls, and automatic lighting adjustments to its full-size mechanical keyboard. The new model is priced at $199.99, putting it $50 above the wired Vulcan II XP released in August.
The Vulcan II XP Air keeps the full-layout design of the original keyboard and features a brushed aluminum finish with per-key ARGB lighting. It also uses hot-swappable switches, giving users the option to replace compatible switches without replacing the entire keyboard.
The biggest hardware change is the move to wireless connectivity. Turtle Beach says the built-in 6,000mAh battery can deliver up to 2,000 hours of battery life, though actual runtime depends on usage and lighting settings. That gives the keyboard a much longer claimed runtime than most rechargeable wireless gaming keyboards.
Turtle Beach has also added an integrated AirTrack sensor. The sensor enables air gesture controls, allowing users to perform supported actions without directly pressing a key. The keyboard also features a human sensor that can detect when the user moves away and automatically lower the backlight brightness.
For gaming, the Vulcan II XP Air uses factory-lubricated TITAN HS Red mechanical switches rated for up to 100 million keystrokes. The switches are paired with integrated damping material, while the keyboard supports ReacTap SOCD, N-key rollover, key remapping, and Turtle Beach’s EASY-SHIFT [+] system.
The EASY-SHIFT [+] feature allows secondary commands to be assigned to keys, providing additional functions without requiring more physical keys. A Game Mode is also included for gaming-focused controls.
At $199.99, the Turtle Beach Vulcan II XP Air is priced higher than the standard Vulcan II XP. The $50 price difference pays for the wireless hardware, larger battery, AirTrack sensor, and human detection system. Turtle Beach is positioning the new model as a more feature-rich option for users who want a full-size mechanical gaming keyboard without being tied to a cable.
