FSP has introduced an 850W ATX power supply with an 80 PLUS 230V Ruby certification, adding a new efficiency milestone to the company’s industrial power supply lineup. The PSU was officially released on September 22 and is designed for systems that require reliable power delivery during sustained workloads, including edge computing platforms and AI workstations.
The FSP850-50AFB is currently listed in the official 80 PLUS certification database as an 80 PLUS Titanium 230V EU Internal-certified industrial power supply, while FSP’s latest announcement identifies the model with the new 230V Ruby certification. The 850W unit uses a conventional AC-to-ATX output configuration and is built around an 80mm high-pressure industrial-grade cooling fan.
The choice of an 80mm fan points toward the power supply’s intended environment. Industrial systems and compact computing platforms can place greater emphasis on cooling performance and long-term operation than consumer desktop builds, particularly when the hardware is running demanding workloads for extended periods.
The new FSP unit also enters a certification category that currently has very few products. Seasonic previously became the first company to obtain an 80 PLUS Ruby certification in the 115V Internal category with its PRIME RX-1600. The company subsequently achieved 230V EU Internal Ruby certification with the ATX 3.1 version of the RX-1600.
Unlike Seasonic’s 1600W model, FSP’s new PSU provides 850W of rated output. That makes it a more suitable capacity for workstation and edge-computing configurations that do not require the extremely high power output of flagship enthusiast or AI systems.
The introduction of 80 PLUS Ruby models comes as power efficiency becomes increasingly important for AI infrastructure and other high-load computing applications. Every percentage point of efficiency can affect heat generation and overall power consumption when systems operate continuously.
FSP has not positioned the FSP850-50AFB as a conventional gaming PSU. Instead, its industrial-grade cooling design, 850W output, and 230V Ruby certification point toward professional and embedded computing environments. More details about pricing, availability, and the full electrical specifications have yet to be disclosed.
