Insta360 is preparing to launch another pocket-sized gimbal camera, and the Luna Pro could offer a cheaper alternative to the company’s dual-camera Luna Ultra. The company has now confirmed that the Insta360 Luna Pro will launch in China on August 20 at 8:00 PM local time, while a new unboxing video has already revealed several details about the camera.
The Luna Pro follows the global launch of the Insta360 Luna Ultra on June 10, 2026. The Ultra model uses two cameras, with a 1-inch main sensor and a 1/1.3-inch telephoto sensor. Its secondary camera supports up to 6x lossless zoom, giving the Luna Ultra more flexibility for users who want both wide and telephoto shooting in a compact gimbal camera.
The new Insta360 Luna Pro takes a simpler approach. Instead of the dual-camera setup found on the Ultra, it uses a single camera. Insta360 has not yet published the complete specifications, but the company’s unboxing video gives potential buyers a better idea of what to expect.
The retail packaging describes the Luna Pro as an “8K Gimbal Camera With 1″ Sensor,” confirming that the camera will feature a large 1-inch sensor and support 8K recording. The box also carries Leica branding, indicating that the two companies are continuing their collaboration on Insta360’s camera lineup.
The unboxing video, shared by Insta360 through its official Weibo account, shows the Luna Pro in a white finish. It also reveals a detachable remote display, although the company has not yet explained all of its functions or whether it will be included with every retail package.

Reservations for the Insta360 Luna Pro are already open through Insta360’s official website in China. Pricing has not been confirmed in the information released so far. For comparison, the Luna Ultra currently sells for $769.99, putting the new Pro model in an interesting position if Insta360 uses its single-camera configuration to reduce the price.
The China launch is scheduled for August 20, so a full specification sheet and pricing information could arrive soon. Insta360 has not confirmed a global release date for the Luna Pro, meaning buyers outside China will have to wait for details on international availability.

For buyers looking at compact cameras, the Luna Pro could become an interesting option if its final price lands below the Luna Ultra while retaining the 1-inch sensor and 8K recording. The lack of a second telephoto camera will make it less versatile than the Ultra, but it could also help Insta360 offer a simpler and potentially more affordable model.
