Cabletime has officially launched its new ScreenDock on Kickstarter, introducing a USB-C docking station that combines port expansion with a built-in 5.5-inch 720p companion display. The product is designed for users who regularly work with multiple applications and need additional screen space without placing another large monitor on their desk.
While most USB-C docks focus on adding connectivity, ScreenDock also functions as a secondary display. Windows from compatible Windows and macOS systems can be moved onto the integrated screen just like any external monitor. This allows users to keep reference information visible while using their primary display for work, gaming, or content creation.
According to Cabletime, the compact display can serve different purposes depending on the user’s workflow. It can show AI chat windows, project dashboards, calendars, notes, music controls, weather information, system monitoring tools, or other applications that users want to keep within view without interrupting their main workspace.
The company also highlights its usefulness during remote meetings. Agendas, chat windows, timers, or presentation notes can remain on the companion display while the primary monitor is dedicated to video conferencing or shared documents. For users with home security cameras or pet monitoring software, those applications can also remain visible on the small display throughout the day.
Gamers and creators may find the companion display useful for monitoring CPU and GPU temperatures, frame rates, rendering progress, network activity, or download status. Instead of opening overlays or switching between applications, system information can remain visible on the secondary display.
In addition to the built-in display, ScreenDock includes an 8-in-1 USB-C docking solution that expands connectivity for laptops and desktop systems.
Cabletime notes that ScreenDock does not operate as an independent smart display. It has no built-in operating system, Wi-Fi connectivity, touchscreen controls, or standalone applications. Instead, it functions as an additional monitor for the connected computer, with all content running directly from the host system. Users will also need to install the supplied USB display driver before using the integrated screen.
The Kickstarter campaign is now live and is expected to remain active for approximately 45 days. Early-bird rewards and bundle options are available for backers, while first shipments are scheduled to begin in October 2026.
