Keychron has officially expanded its Ultra-series lineup with the launch of the new K5 Ultra 8K, a full-size low-profile wireless mechanical keyboard that combines modern gaming features with a slim design and premium materials. Arriving after the recent introduction of the K4 Ultra and K10 Ultra, the K5 Ultra follows the same platform by offering ZMK firmware, high-speed wireless connectivity, and extensive customization options. The keyboard is now available in black through Keychron’s online store and Amazon with a starting price of $114.99.
Designed for users who prefer a complete keyboard layout, the K5 Ultra features a standard 100% layout with a dedicated number pad. It also includes a programmable rotary knob positioned above the Backspace key and an additional macro key row above the numpad, giving users more flexibility for shortcuts, productivity tasks, and gaming controls.
Like other models in the Ultra series, the keyboard supports 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB Type-C wired connection. Keychron has also equipped the K5 Ultra with support for an 8,000Hz polling rate over both wired and 2.4GHz wireless modes, reducing input latency for users who demand fast response times during gameplay.
Power is supplied by a 2,400mAh battery, which Keychron says can provide up to 370 hours of battery life on a single charge when RGB lighting is disabled while operating at the maximum polling rate.
The K5 Ultra introduces Keychron’s newer Milk POM low-profile mechanical switches, available in three different variants. Users can choose between the smooth Milk POM Red linear switches with a 45gf actuation force, the tactile Milk POM Brown switches rated at 50gf, or the heavier tactile Milk POM Banana switches with a 57gf actuation force. All three switch options feature 3.1mm total travel, while the Reds use a shorter 1.3mm pre-travel and the tactile variants use 1.7mm.
The keyboard measures 436.6 x 128.29 mm and has a 15.55 mm front height, maintaining a slim profile despite offering a complete full-size layout. Two-stage adjustable feet are included to provide multiple typing angles.
For customization, the K5 Ultra features north-facing RGB lighting and full key remapping through the browser-based Keychron Launcher, allowing users to create custom layouts, macros, and lighting profiles without installing dedicated software.
The chassis combines an ABS plastic body with metal rails along the top and bottom for added durability. Adding to its appearance are rosewood side panels, while the keyboard comes equipped with double-shot PBT keycaps using Keychron’s LSA profile, offering improved resistance to wear and keycap shine during long-term use.
