Razer has announced the Razer Kitsune – Ryu Edition, a new limited-edition version of its leverless arcade controller created for PlayStation 5 and PC players. The new model celebrates one of the most recognizable characters in the Street Fighter series, Ryu, while keeping the same tournament-focused hardware found in the original Razer Kitsune. The controller is scheduled to launch during EVO 2026 in Las Vegas, where fighting game fans and professional competitors gather for one of the biggest esports events of the year.

The new edition is designed for players who want competitive performance alongside a design inspired by Street Fighter 6. Razer has given the controller a fully dye-sublimated aluminum top plate featuring black-and-white artwork inspired by Ryu’s disciplined fighting style. Red accents have also been added throughout the design to represent his iconic fighting spirit, giving the controller a distinctive appearance while maintaining its premium finish.
Although the exterior has received a new look, the internal hardware remains unchanged. The Kitsune – Ryu Edition continues to use Razer’s all-button layout instead of a traditional arcade joystick. Four dedicated directional buttons replace the lever, allowing players to perform movement inputs with greater consistency. This layout has become increasingly popular among competitive fighting game players because it helps reduce accidental directional inputs while offering fast execution during matches.

Razer also equips the controller with its low-profile linear optical switches, which provide short actuation for quick and responsive button presses. Combined with the leverless layout, these switches are designed to deliver the precision needed for advanced techniques, quick reactions, and consistent execution during competitive play.
Like the standard Kitsune, the Ryu Edition supports Razer Chroma RGB, allowing players to customize lighting effects with multiple color combinations and preset animations. Users can personalize the controller to match their gaming setup while adding visual effects during gameplay.

The controller is also built with portability in mind. Its slim profile makes it easy to carry from home gaming setups to local tournaments and major esports events. Razer includes a detachable USB Type-C cable for convenient storage, while a built-in cable security clasp helps prevent accidental disconnections during matches. A dedicated Tournament Lock Switch disables non-essential buttons to comply with tournament regulations and reduce the risk of unintended inputs.
