Dareu has added a new option to its keyboard lineup with the release of the FK98, a model designed around a 96% layout that keeps the numeric keypad while reducing overall size. This layout continues to gain traction among users who want a more compact footprint without losing functionality, especially in mixed-use setups that balance gaming and productivity.
The FK98 uses Dareu’s mechanical-contact Abyss Purple switches, designed to deliver a consistent keystroke with a focus on controlled feedback. The keyboard also adopts a gasket-mounted internal structure, which helps reduce direct contact between the plate and the case. This approach is often used to create a softer typing feel while limiting vibrations during extended use.
To further refine acoustics, Dareu has implemented a five-layer sound-dampening structure placed around the PCB. This layered setup is intended to reduce hollow sounds and improve overall typing noise. The stabilizers also receive a design tweak: a gourd-shaped slot structure that tightens both sides, improving key stability and synchronization, particularly on larger keys.
Connectivity is a key highlight, with support for tri-mode operation, including wired, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz wireless. The built-in 4000mAh battery is expected to handle extended sessions without frequent charging, which is useful for users switching between devices or maintaining a clean desk setup.
The FK98 also includes multiple RGB lighting modes, with support for music-based effects that react to audio playback. It ships with double-shot PBT keycaps, which are known for better durability and resistance to shine over time.
