Crimson Desert Hits $20M in Pre-Orders With Nearly 400K Copies Sold on Steam Ahead of Launch

Pearl Abyss’ upcoming open-world title Crimson Desert is close to release, and early sales data suggest a solid start across PC platforms. According to a recent report from Alinea Analytics, the game has already generated notable revenue through pre-orders, driven largely by activity on Steam.

Industry analyst Rhys Elliot shared that Crimson Desert has sold nearly 400,000 copies on Steam ahead of its official launch. Based on current pricing trends, that figure translates to an estimated $20 million in revenue from the platform alone. These numbers place the title in a strong position before it becomes available globally on PC and current-generation consoles.

The report also points to a surge in demand over a short period. Around 10% of total pre-orders were recorded within a single 24-hour window, indicating a spike in interest despite ongoing discussions around system requirements and the late implementation of Denuvo anti-tamper technology. While these concerns drew attention across community forums, they do not appear to have slowed purchasing activity in a meaningful way.

In comparison with other recent releases, Alinea Analytics notes that Crimson Desert is currently tracking ahead of titles such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in terms of pre-launch performance. While these comparisons are based on early estimates, they provide a snapshot of how the game is positioned heading into release.

Crimson Desert is scheduled to launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. As with most large-scale releases, early impressions will depend on technical stability across platforms, particularly on base console hardware. If performance holds up and players report a consistent experience, early sales momentum could carry forward through launch week.

The broader outlook for the title remains tied to how it performs after release, both in terms of gameplay reception and technical execution. With expectations building, Crimson Desert is already being mentioned alongside upcoming releases such as Grand Theft Auto VI in discussions around next year’s major titles. For now, pre-order data suggests that interest remains steady as launch approaches.
