John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando Gameplay Trailer Details Co-Op Shooter Ahead of March 12 Launch

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have released a new Gameplay Overview Trailer for John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando, offering an in-depth look at the upcoming co-op action shooter ahead of its release on March 12, 2026. Inspired by classic 1980s action-horror films, the game is a new intellectual property led by filmmaker John Carpenter and developed by the team known for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, World War Z, and SnowRunner. The title is set to launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The newly released trailer focuses on the game’s core systems, including its mission structure, story framework, weapons, vehicles, and class-based gameplay. John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is designed as a four-player co-op action survival shooter, placing players in the role of a specialized mercenary unit tasked with containing a large-scale zombie outbreak. Missions take place across semi-open environments filled with hostile creatures created using Saber Interactive’s Swarm technology, which allows hundreds of enemies to appear on screen at once.

Combat plays a central role, with players gaining access to 16 primary weapon types. These include firearms such as shotguns, submachine guns, sniper rifles, and pistols, alongside melee options like machetes and crowbars. Secondary weapons and environmental destruction add further options during encounters. Vehicles are also an important part of gameplay, offering both transportation and a way to clear paths through dense enemy groups as players move between objectives.

The game features four distinct classes: Strike, Medic, Operator, and Defender. Each class comes with its own abilities, allowing teams to balance offense, support, and defense depending on mission requirements. Players can team up with friends or use matchmaking to form squads, with full cross-play support across all platforms.

Ahead of launch, Saber Interactive confirmed a time-limited playable demo for PC. The demo will be available on Steam from February 19 to March 2, giving players a chance to try selected missions and experience the co-op gameplay systems before release.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando will be available in two editions at launch: the Standard Edition and the Blood Edition. Both editions are available for pre-order now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Pre-ordering either version grants access to Leon’s Secret Stash DLC at no additional cost.

The Blood Edition includes the Bloody Pass, which adds two post-launch downloadable content packs featuring cosmetic items for characters, weapons, and vehicles. Additional content includes a Gold Color weapon cosmetic pack, a weapon charm, and one character skin for each playable class.

The game is scheduled to launch worldwide on March 12, 2026, bringing its co-op zombie shooter experience to current-generation consoles and PC.
