MINISFORUM has announced a new compact workstation-class Mini PC called the MS-02 Ultra, designed to combine high-end performance with strong expandability in a 4-liter enclosure. The system is built around Intel’s Core Ultra 9-285HX processor, part of Intel’s latest mobile lineup focused on balancing processing power and efficiency. While the company has not yet revealed its pricing or launch date, the specifications indicate that the MS-02 Ultra aims to cater to professionals and power users who need robust hardware in a smaller footprint.
The MS-02 Ultra measures 221.5 x 97 x 225 millimeters, making it notably compact for a system that supports multiple expansion options. Its chassis design follows a simple industrial look, with a banner-style grille on the front panel for ventilation, complemented by a honeycomb heat dissipation structure across the other sides. This design helps maintain optimal airflow within the dense internal layout, which is essential for cooling high-performance components like the Ultra 9 processor.

Inside, the Mini PC includes four SODIMM memory slots, allowing configurations of up to 256GB DDR5-4800 ECC memory, which provides both speed and reliability for professional workloads. Storage expansion is also extensive, with four M.2 2280 slots, supporting SSDs with capacities of up to 16TB in total. For users requiring additional hardware, the system includes three PCIe expansion slots—one PCIe 5.0 x16, one PCIe 4.0 x16, and one PCIe 4.0 x4—making it possible to add discrete GPUs, capture cards, or specialized expansion devices.
In terms of connectivity, the MS-02 Ultra is equipped with modern features suitable for both workstation and network-intensive use. It supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring fast and stable wireless connections. On the wired side, it offers a 10G Ethernet port and a 2.5G Ethernet port for high-speed networking. The I/O selection includes one HDMI 2.1 port, one USB4, two USB4 V2 ports, four USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, and a 3.5mm audio interface, offering flexibility for connecting displays, peripherals, and external devices.
With its combination of the Intel Core Ultra 9-285HX processor, extensive memory and storage support, and multiple PCIe slots, the MINISFORUM MS-02 Ultra positions itself as a capable compact workstation for demanding environments. It provides the flexibility of a desktop system within a much smaller chassis, making it suitable for professionals in content creation, CAD design, and enterprise applications. While pricing and release details are yet to be disclosed, the MS-02 Ultra appears to mark MINISFORUM’s focus on delivering a small yet expandable computing platform that bridges performance and practicality.
