Xbox Unveils The Outer Worlds 2-Themed Controllers Through Design Lab

Microsoft has introduced two new controller designs inspired by The Outer Worlds 2, available exclusively through Xbox Design Lab. These controllers bring the visual identity of the upcoming sci-fi RPG into players’ hands, combining the game’s distinctive art style with the advanced features of both the Xbox Wireless Controller and the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2.

The new designs reflect the world of The Outer Worlds 2, featuring The Moon Man and the galactic rifts that represent the dangers threatening humanity. Each controller can be customized through Xbox Design Lab, allowing players to modify elements such as triggers, D-pads, grips, and color schemes. This customization lets players tailor their controller to match the game’s theme or their personal preference.

The standard Xbox Wireless Controller – The Outer Worlds 2 Edition starts at $94.98 USD, while the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – The Outer Worlds 2 Edition begins at $184.98 USD. Both are available now directly through Xbox Design Lab.

Customization options include metallic triggers, a metallic D-pad, and rubberized side and back grips for better handling during intense gameplay. Buyers can also choose to engrave their controller’s top case for a personalized touch. Every controller supports Xbox Wireless and Bluetooth connectivity, ensuring compatibility across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android devices. A dedicated share button is also included, allowing players to capture and share screenshots or video clips during gameplay instantly.

The Elite Series 2 version expands on these features, offering adjustable-tension thumbsticks, wrap-around rubberized grips, and shorter hair trigger locks for faster response times. It also supports optional back paddles, allowing more input control and flexibility. Using the Xbox Accessories app, players can remap buttons and save custom profiles for different games, enhancing precision and comfort.

Each controller features a 3.5mm stereo jack for connecting headsets, providing a more immersive audio experience. Whether players prefer high-action battles or exploration within the Arcadia system, these controllers are designed to complement their playstyle and performance preferences.

The Outer Worlds 2 is set to launch on October 29, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PC (via Steam and Battle.net), and through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on day one. Players who pre-order the Premium Edition will gain up to five days of early access and receive Commander Zane’s Anti-Monopolistic Battle Pack.

With the arrival of these themed controllers, Xbox aims to offer players not only a functional accessory but a piece of the Outer Worlds universe that reflects the spirit of adventure and customization the series is known for.
