Biwin has announced that its Amber CB500 CFexpress Type B Card is the first in the world to achieve VPG800 certification from the CompactFlash Association. The certification guarantees a sustained write speed of 800 MB/s, ensuring consistent performance for professional filmmakers, cinematographers, and content creators working with high-resolution video formats.
The Amber CB500 is based on the CFexpress 4.0 Type B standard and delivers read speeds up to 3750 MB/s and write speeds up to 3500 MB/s. When paired with the Biwin Amber RB510 high-speed card reader, the card supports transfer rates of up to 40 Gb/s, reducing offloading times and streamlining post-production workflows.
VPG800 certification is part of the Video Performance Guarantee Profile 5.0, which sets a minimum sustained write performance level of 800 MB/s. By meeting this standard, the Amber CB500 enables uninterrupted recording for demanding formats, including 8K and 12K RAW capture, oversampled 4K and 6K video, multi-camera broadcasting, virtual production on LED stages, and VR/AR applications.
The card is compatible with a wide range of professional camera systems, including those from Canon, Nikon, Panasonic, DJI, RED, Blackmagic, Hasselblad, and Fuji. This broad compatibility allows users to integrate the Amber CB500 into diverse production setups.
To maintain performance during extended sessions, the CB500 incorporates an advanced thermal design. Its aluminum alloy shell, combined with thermal conductive gel, helps dissipate heat, ensuring stability during long-duration and high-bitrate recordings. In addition, the card is built with durability features such as resistance to shocks, drops, impacts, wear, magnetic interference, and X-rays. It also supports operating temperatures from -12°C to +72°C, making it suitable for both field and studio conditions.
Available in capacities ranging from 128 GB to 1 TB, the Amber CB500 offers storage flexibility for a variety of production needs.
