Keychron Launches Q16 HE 8K, the First Mechanical Keyboard with Full Ceramic Build

Keychron has officially unveiled the Q16 HE 8K, a mechanical keyboard that marks a new direction in keyboard construction with the use of ceramic for both the keycaps and the casing. Announced on September 15, this model is positioned as the world’s first all-ceramic keyboard, designed to combine durability with a distinct tactile experience.

Unlike traditional keyboards that typically rely on plastic or aluminum materials, the Q16 HE 8K introduces ceramic as its defining feature. Keychron states that the ceramic build delivers a cool yet firm touch, while also offering long-term wear resistance. By applying this material across the entire keyboard frame and keycaps, the company aims to deliver a design that is both functional and visually refined.

The Q16 HE 8K adopts a 65% layout, eliminating the function row but retaining essential keys for daily and professional use. This layout provides a compact footprint without reducing usability for most typing and productivity scenarios.

At the core of the keyboard are the new Ultra-Fast Lime linear magnetic switches, developed using Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) technology. These switches feature an adjustable key travel range between 0.1 mm and 3.35 mm, allowing users to fine-tune actuation depth to their preference. Actuation force is rated between 25 gf and 48 gf, while the switches are designed to last for up to 100 million presses. Keychron highlights the high sensitivity of 0.01 mm adjustments, catering to both fast-paced gaming and precise typing requirements.

The keycap height conforms to the original Cherry profile specification, ensuring familiarity for users accustomed to this widely adopted standard.

The Q16 HE 8K integrates north-facing RGB LEDs, providing customizable lighting effects, and includes a 5° tilt in the chassis design for ergonomic typing. The keyboard operates via a wired connection and supports an 8,000 Hz polling rate, aimed at reducing latency during high-performance use cases.

The Keychron Q16 HE 8K has been priced at $239.99. The model will be introduced through a Kickstarter campaign, with backers expected to receive shipments beginning in October 2025.

This release continues Keychron’s approach of blending design innovation with functionality, positioning the Q16 HE 8K as a unique entry in the competitive mechanical keyboard market.
