Keychron Z7 MAX Launches with Low-Profile Design and Extended Battery Capacity

Keychron has introduced the Z7 MAX, a new addition to its mechanical keyboard lineup. The Z7 MAX is positioned as a low-profile model, designed to balance portability, build quality, and user customization.

The keyboard adopts a screwless, all-aluminum chassis, providing both durability and a slim profile. With a body height of about 10mm and a weight of around 610g, the Z7 MAX is light enough to carry in a laptop bag, making it suitable for mobile professionals and users who work across different setups.

The Z7 MAX is built around an 84-key tenkeyless (TKL) layout. It uses a gasket-mounted structure combined with five layers of internal noise-damping padding. This approach is intended to deliver a softer typing feel and reduced sound levels during use. The switches are hot-swappable, allowing users to replace them without soldering.

Keychron ships the Z7 MAX with Kailh POM White Rain low-profile switches. These switches are rated for a 50 million keypress lifespan. They feature an actuation force of 40±10gf, a pre-travel distance of 1.2±0.3mm, and a full travel distance of 2.8±0.25mm. The keyboard also includes custom-designed PBT keycaps, offering greater resistance to wear compared to standard ABS alternatives.

On the software side, the Z7 MAX supports QMK-based key customization through a web interface. This gives users the flexibility to remap functions and create personalized layouts. For connectivity, the keyboard offers three modes: USB-C wired, Bluetooth, and 2.4GHz wireless.

The Z7 MAX features an internal 4000mAh battery, the largest capacity currently available in a low-profile mechanical keyboard. In wireless mode, it can deliver up to 80 days of regular use on a single charge.

Keychron has set the official price of the Z7 MAX at 599 yuan. However, the company stated that actual retail prices on e-commerce platforms may be lower depending on promotions and regional availability.

The release of the Z7 MAX further expands Keychron’s low-profile keyboard options, providing users with a compact form factor, extended wireless endurance, and a range of customization features that cater to both office and mobile use cases.
