Supergiant Games has officially confirmed that Hades II will leave Early Access and release worldwide on September 25. The game will launch on PC via Steam, Nintendo Switch, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the sequel to both current and next-generation Nintendo hardware.
The announcement was made during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, where a new trailer was also revealed. The footage provided a closer look at gameplay, featuring new combat abilities, mythological characters, and environments players will explore throughout the Underworld. The trailer also detailed technical performance for the Nintendo Switch 2 version, which will support up to 120 frames per second at 1080p resolution in docked mode. This is a significant improvement compared to the standard Switch version, which will target lower performance levels due to hardware limitations.
Hades II is the first sequel developed by Supergiant Games. The studio has expanded upon the roguelike structure of the original release, introducing new features that build on combat depth, progression, and narrative. Set once again in the Underworld of Greek mythology, the sequel explores themes tied to witchcraft and new deities, adding layers to the game’s lore. Players can expect challenging dungeon-crawling gameplay designed for repeated runs, combined with new story elements revealed across playthroughs.

While the initial release platforms include PC, Nintendo Switch, and Switch 2, it is unlikely that these will remain the only options. The original Hades followed a similar path, first launching on PC and Switch before making its way to PlayStation and Xbox platforms. A comparable release schedule could see Hades II expand to other consoles at a later stage, though no details have been provided at this time.

The Early Access period on Steam allowed the development team to gather player feedback and refine balance, mechanics, and overall performance. With the full launch, Supergiant Games aims to deliver a completed version that reflects both community input and the studio’s vision for the sequel.
